Raised Doughnuts

Crème caramel donut anyone? Nestled in the tree-lined streets of Seattle’s Central District, Raised Doughnuts has you covered. This is a great little shop that makes perfectly delicious yeast-based donuts. Not only are the donuts here made with artisan-level quality – sweet, but not too sweet, crunchy texture of the crème caramel glaze, perfect springy dough texture – the donuts are made just the right size. We certainly wouldn’t consider these “mini” donuts by any measure, but they aren’t so large you’ll feel guilty when you inevitably can’t resist going back for seconds.

We are writing this post as coronavirus cases are surging surging throughout the country, and we greatly appreciated the staff taking our order at the door rather than having us enter to the building. That said, we certainly look forward to visiting again when the opportunity provides itself.

We specifically chose to come this Sunday morning – the only day this week that they made the crème caramel donuts. We chose to order one of those and a pumpkin fritter. Both were delicious and they even threw in a second crème caramel for free (apparently they were baked just a tad smaller than usual today)! The swirl of pumpkin in the pumpkin fritter was a sight to behold!

Raised sells a variety of special donuts and cakes that vary throughout the year. For the month of November the specials are Snickerdoodle, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pumpkin Fritter, and Red Bean Mochi. They also sell certain donuts only on weekends. This week’s schedule was churro crullers on Fridays, a savory everything bagel (???) on Saturday, and the above-mentioned crème caramel on Sunday. We also can’t forget to mention! Bring your furry friend and get her/him a special “pup nut” made with whole wheat flour, oats, egg, apple sauce, maple syrup, and bacon. Perfect for a quick pit stop on a morning neighborhood stroll!
